Solar panel
On days when you stay put, solar is what keeps the system from draining.
From portable folding panels to permanently mounted flexible modules. What matters is not the rated wattage but how much it actually puts back on a sunny day.
CampOFF
Why it is part of the system
Solar looks like a luxury right up until you spend two days in one place. From then on it is the only thing charging.
That is why we do not choose it on its own: it has to be sized to the station's input limits and to the real daily shortfall. Carrying four hundred watts is pointless if the unit accepts one hundred.
Practical testing of our own panels starts now. Beyond the rated watts we will also measure what they deliver in real weather — and how much half a panel of shade costs.
What is it for?
Recharging the power station without mains. If you stay in one place for several days this is your only charging source — without driving, a DC-DC charger does not help either.
Who is it for?
It suits you if you camp off-grid, stay put for several days, or simply do not want the fridge and the laptop to depend on starting the car.
How to choose
- Rated power (W): on a Central European average a panel returns roughly 2.5× its rated figure in Wh on a sunny day.
- Construction: foldable for mobile use, semi-flexible for a permanently bonded camper installation.
- Connector: you need an MC4 output to feed a power station; USB only covers charging a phone directly.
- The station's input limit: carrying 400 W of panel is pointless if the unit only accepts 100 W.
- Folded size and weight — this decides whether you actually take it with you.

Which one should I pick?
Rule of thumb: for 300 Wh a day, roughly 100–150 W of panel; for 800 Wh a day, around 300 W. In cloudy weather plan with half of that.
