Digital nomad by car

Make the car an office too — with stable power and internet.

If you live off a laptop, energy is not a comfort question but a business risk. The system has to hold reserve for several days and for bad weather.

A laptop and a router are not much on their own, but 8–10 hours a day is. On top of that comes the fridge, which runs day and night.

This is how we would do it

When the laptop is not a hobby but the work, energy becomes a business risk.

Our rule is that two days of bad weather have to be survivable while still working. That is what sets the capacity — not the fair-weather average.

The router is the sneakiest load: tiny, but running day and night. Together with the fridge those two make up the larger half of daily consumption, not the laptop.

Where there is no official local price, we convert the EU reference price at the Hungarian National Bank's official rate for the day, rounded up. This is an estimate, not the shop's price — the partner shop bills in its own currency. Purchase links go live once each partner programme is approved, brand by brand. What to watch for as a nomad

Laptops: 300–600 Wh a day if you really work. Internet and router: small draw, but continuous. Phones: two or three devices a day. Fridge: a 24-hour load, and the largest single item. Multi-day energy: bad weather must not stop the work. Alternator and solar charging together: that is what gives you redundancy.
