Roof cross bar

A rooftop tent starts with having something to mount it to.

The cross bar carries the load: a tent, a roof box, a kayak. Load rating and roof rail type decide, not length.

Why it is part of the system

A rooftop tent starts with having something safe to mount it to. That is why we treat the cross bar as part of the rooftop tent system rather than as an accessory.

Not every bar suits every car: the roof rail design — raised, flush or bare — the mounting method, the size and the load rating together decide which can be fitted at all.

Worth asking before ordering: many bars ship without mounting feet, and those have to be bought separately for the specific car.

What is it for?

A load-bearing surface on the car roof. In a lockable version the gear is protected too.

Who is it for?

It suits you if you want a rooftop tent or a roof box — this is the first step, not the last.

How to choose

  • Load capacity (kg): beyond the bar's own rating, the car's rated DYNAMIC roof load is a limit too — the smaller one governs, and it is not the same as the static load allowed while parked.
  • Roof rail type: raised, flush or bare roof — this decides which bar can be fitted at all.
  • Length and rail spacing: it has to match that specific car's rails.
  • Lockability: not a detail when gear is left in a car park.
  • Feet: several models ship without mounting feet — check before ordering.

Where there is no official local price, we convert the EU reference price at the Hungarian National Bank's official rate for the day, rounded up. Which one should I pick?

There is no single number that holds for every car. Three things have to hold at once: the car's rated DYNAMIC roof load, the bar's capacity and the tent's mounting method. The smallest of the three governs — read it out of the car's handbook and the product data together.
